UAE: Govt launches post office system to enhance online health insurance management

Source: Middle East Insurance Review | Nov 2020

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), has launched a Post Office initiative to enable better management of the central information system related to online insurance claims and their tracking.

The Post Office service covers the flow of all claims between healthcare facilities and insurance companies, such as eligibility verification, insurance coverage and e-payments, including claims submissions, reported Emirates News Agency. The services are available for use by the authorised users in the healthcare facilities, without having to rely on insurance companies.
The initiative is part of Riayati, the National Unified Medical Records, an IT system linking hospitals, clinics and healthcare providers.

The new system aims to improve treatment services, reduce healthcare costs in the UAE, and achieve a smart and integrated health system that serves the beneficiaries of health services, while strengthening control over the insurance system to reduce misuse of financial resources.

Launched in 2018, Riayati seeks to deliver the best levels of healthcare for the UAE. The system, which is managed by the Ministry of Health, in cooperation with Pure CS healthcare technology company, is expected to work with public and private health facilities by 2021. M
