Source: Middle East Insurance Review | Jun 2017

The Federation of Afro-Asian Insurers and Reinsurers (FAIR) is holding its 25th Conference in Bahrain. This will be the first time the biennial conference is hosted in the Gulf region in the organisation’s 53-year history.

Under the patronage of HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister of the Bahrain, the Conference will be held from 9-11 October 2017 in Manama. Bahrain’s insurance industry is gearing up to make this a successful event.

The conference, jointly organised by the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB), the Bahrain Insurance Association (BIA), Arab Insurance Group (Arig) and Trust Re, will gather key stakeholders from the insurance industry to chart a new direction for the regional industry under the theme: “Insurance Transformation in FAIR-Land”.

The Organising Committee of the FAIR 25th Conference has launched a Conference website at www.fairbahrain2017.com. The user-friendly website will provide information about the event and offer online registration.

The three-day Conference, which will be held in the Gulf Convention Centre, will tackle the key issues of regulatory reforms, FinTech & disruptive innovation, protection gap, cyber resilience and the fast-changing risk landscape of today in Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

FAIR was established in 1964 to promote cooperation among insurers and reinsurers in Africa and Asia through the regular exchange of information, expertise and the development of business relations.

Past FAIR Conferences have been held in Beijing, Khartoum, Kuala Lumpur, Bali, Tunis, Manila, Zimbabwe, Mumbai and Marrakech with the last FAIR held in Cairo with about 1,000 delegates from around the world. The FAIR Conference is held every two years in either an African or Asian country.

Middle East Insurance Review and Asia Insurance Review have been appointed the event manager to provide the secretariat services for the 25th FAIR Conference. M
