The turnover of insurance companies in Tunisia increased by 6.2% in 2019 to reach TND2.3bn ($837m), according to a recent study by Tera Finances. The growth is attributed to increases in premiums for life and non-life insurance companies.
During the year, non-life insurance premiums increased by TND85.5m (+ 4.9%), and life insurance premiums by TND53.4m (+ 10.5%), reported Agence Ecofin citing Tera Finances.
Carte Assurances achieved the strongest growth in the non-life branch and Gat Vie in the life branch.
Among 21 insurance companies (the country has 22 insurers in total), Star is the market leader with a turnover of TND374.9m, followed by Comar and Gat Assurances, which are respectively second and third.
