Motor insurance products can only be purchased with a valid Ghana card from 1 January 2026.
The Ghana Card is a national identity card issued by the National Identification Authority to all Ghanaian citizens living in Ghana and abroad.
The National Insurance Commission (NIC), in a public notice, said, “Effective 1 January 2026, the Ghana Card would become a mandatory requirement when purchasing or renewing any motor insurance policy.”
