South Africa:Additional taxes needed to fund National Health Insurance scheme

The proposed National Health Insurance (NHI) scheme will be funded by a payroll tax and a surcharge on personal income, according to a factsheet released by the Department of Health and the Presidency following the passage in June 2023 of the NHI Bill.
