Antananarivo-headquartered pan-African conglomerate AXIAN Group has announced that its subsidiary VIA Assurance has launched operations in Madagascar, following regulatory approval of a composite insurance licence.
VIA Assurance is a digital native insurer, in its internal processes as well as offerings to individuals and businesses.
“This launch in Madagascar marks a strategic milestone for AXIAN and reflects the Group’s ambition to position the country as a hub for innovation and impact in building a more inclusive insurance sector,” AXIAN said in a statement.
“In Madagascar, insurance represents a powerful lever for economic structuring. In a market that remains largely underdeveloped, VIA Assurance can play a key role in strengthening financial protection, social resilience, and support for economic growth,” AXIAN added.
The launch also marks the first step in a broader ambition to support the development of the group’s insurance activities across Africa.
VIA Assurance is rolling out a range of products designed to address life’s uncertainties and protect what matters most: assets and liabilities, professional activities, travel, as well as key moments in both personal and entrepreneurial life.
The company’s Managing Director, Mr Pascal Plaziat, said in the statement, "VIA is about supporting every life, every entrepreneurial project, and every journey. Our ambition is to build trust in insurance among people in Madagascar by demonstrating its tangible value in everyday life."
AXIAN operates in 19 countries, focussing on five sectors with strong growth potential: digibanking & FinTech, financial services, energy, real estate and telecoms.
