The Pensions and Insurance Authority (PIA) has launched the Insurance Regulatory Sandbox for tech firms to test innovative products before they are rolled out in the market.
The PIA said in a post on its Facebook account, “This milestone marks a new era for the Zambian insurance sector, bridging the gap between innovation and robust consumer protection.” The launch took place on 23 February 2026.
“We are committed to fostering a market where safe products lead to confident consumers,” the regulator added.
In a promotional video, the regulator said that the PIA Insurance Regulatory Sandbox enables innovation while protecting consumers and strengthening the market.
