The Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF) will launch a training course in insurance for commercial court judges as the first phase of its programme to provide training to the judiciary in financial services.
The programme follows an agreement signed by BIBF with the Judicial and Legal Studies Institute (JLSI) to provide training for the Supreme Judicial Council’s newly appointed commercial court judges, reported the Bahrain News Agency.
The insurance training will address the specific nature of commercial disputes through a perusal of the fundamentals of insurance law in different fields.
This kicks off an intensive training programme for the judges that also covers banking, Islamic banking, leasing, and mortgages. Courses covering these areas will take place in subsequent phases of the programme.
Two commercial courts were inaugurated in September. Mr Salim bin Mohammed Al Kuwari, President of the Supreme Judicial Council, said: “The courts will ensure speedy justice and boost investors confidence in Bahrain’s judicial and economic system.
