Mena News - Saudi Arabia: Insurance Cover for Domestic Helpers and their Employers

Source: Middle East Insurance Review | Mar 2007

A study is being made of plans to require insurance cover for domestic maids and their employers so as to protect the rights of both sides.

The insurance cover would encompass risks and losses which the domestic helpers face, including the death of the employer. For employers, the policy would cover cases in which maids abscond or steal.

It is understood that the National Committee for Recruitment, which is associated with the Council of Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Industry, is exploring the issue.
