Jordan: Insurance premiums jump by 9.4% in 1H2026

Jordan’s insurance sector reported encouraging growth for the first half of the year, supported by notable increases in medical and life insurance businesses.
The market posted gross written premiums of JOD493m ($695m) in the first half of the year, representing a 9.4% increase over the corresponding period of the previous year, according to statistics published by the Central Bank of Jordan.
Medical insurance, the largest line of business with a 38% market share, led the sector as premiums reached JOD188m, up from JOD163m in the first half of 2025, registering a 15% increase.
The market’s total paid claims increased at a faster pace in the first half of the year as it reached JOD302m against JOD268m in 1H2025, registering an increase of around 13%. M
