The Jordan Insurance Federation (JIF) is launching an electronic insurance platform for compulsory motor third-party liability insurance (MTPL).
The new online platform, called ‘Unified Insurance - JIF INS’, is scheduled to be active and operational with effect from 15 February 2022, the federation said in a statement. The platform is part of the federation’s efforts to automate insurance services on an ongoing basis for the purpose of facilitating the provision of insurance services online.
JIF said in its statement, “The launch of this platform comes within the framework of complementarity between the insurance sector represented by the JIF, motorists and the Vehicles Licensing Department of the Public Security Directorate, to enable owners of small private vehicles, that are exempt from technical examination, to obtain MTPL covers through the ‘Unified Insurance’ smartphone application.”
Following this first stage, the online service will be expanded to include the issuance of MTPL policies for all categories of Jordanian vehicles. Work is also underway to allow the online issuance of insurance policies for foreign vehicles at a later stage.
JIF added that the electronic insurance platform would save time and effort for citizens, as well as be a vital tool for operations especially in light of the current circumstances due to the COVID-19 pandemic. M
