Source: Middle East Insurance Review | Oct 2021

The General Arab Insurance Federation (GAIF) has announced that its next general conference will be postponed to 2022 due to the COVID-19 situation and the need to take precautionary measures.

The decision was made by the higher organising committee of the 33rd GAIF General Conference following approval by the GAIF board of directors. The postponement was announced on the 30 August 2021 edition of the GAIF e-newsletter.

The conference, which was to have been held in 2020, had first been deferred to October 2021 because of the pandemic.

As for the Dr Rajai Sweis Insurance Research Award,  scheduled on the sidelines of the GAIF conference, the GAIF general secretariat will continue to receive research papers until a new deadline is announced. All papers received will be considered for the award and the results of the competition will be announced during the conference next year.

The biennial general conference is considered the largest pan-Arab insurance event and usually attracts more than 1,500 delegates from regional and international insurance markets. The last GAIF conference was held in Tunis in 2018 in cooperation with the Tunisian Federation of Insurance Companies with the theme ‘The digital transition in the Arab insurance industry’. M
