Saudi Arabia: CCHI introduces more COVID-19 support measures

Source: Middle East Insurance Review | Jul 2020

The Council of Cooperative Health Insurance (CCHI) has announced more initiatives aimed at helping the beneficiaries, health insurers and health service providers, as part of its ongoing support to enable the health sector to cope with COVID-19.

These measures include allowing the coverage of the private health insurance policies to continue if the business owner fails to meet the payment of insurance premiums starting from 25 May 2020 until receiving further notice from the General Secretariat of the Council (GSC).

Another initiative is to support the insurance and claims management companies, as the financial consideration for the rehabilitation and renewal processes of these firms has been postponed from 1 April to 30 September 2020. The financial consideration will be collected retroactively during the first quarter of 2021, so that companies can fulfil their obligations towards the insurance parties. M
