UAE: Insurance Authority sets up crisis and emergency management chamber

Source: Middle East Insurance Review | Jun 2020

The UAE Insurance Authority (IA) has created a Chamber for Crisis and Emergency Management for the insurance sector to ensure coordination of national efforts during emergencies, crises and disasters in accordance with the national plans for response and recovery.

The establishment of this chamber falls within the framework of enhancing joint cooperation between government agencies on supporting measures to address the repercussions of COVID-19, the authority said in a statement.

The other government agencies include the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Health and Community Protection, and the National Crisis, Emergency and Disaster Management Authority.

The IA has so far launched two stimulus packages to support the insurance sector and ensure the continued performance of insurers and associated businesses amid the pandemic. M
