Source: Middle East Insurance Review | Sep 2019

Afro Asian Assistance has outlined its plans for the future and announced leadership changes to execute the plans.

Known for its various services including roadside assistance, travel assistance, medical evacuation/repatriation and group personal accident cover through its 24/7 call centre services, the company is mulling plans to diversify its portfolio and to expand its territorial reach. Future considerations also include adapting its business model to become a TPA.

The appointment of new board members and a new general manager reinforces the company’s commitment to continue developing and offering quality services to individuals and companies.

Mr Nabil Hajjar, a seasoned reinsurance expert, was elected as chairman of the new board of directors.

Commenting on Afro Asian Assistance’s plans for the future, Mr Hajjar said, “Over the years, the company established itself as a reliable assistance provider, evident by the sound reputation and the large number of clients in various countries. With the new board of directors and new management team, we will work on reinforcing the company’s strengths, reform our vision, mission and values, maintain sound corporate governance and build new strategies to meet our objectives.”

In addition, the board of directors appointed Mr Hussain Matooq as general manager, with effect from 1 July 2019.

Collectively, the board sets the overall strategic direction, approves business plans and monitors the overall performance of the company’s business against approved strategic plans and within a framework of sound corporate governance.

Afro Asian Assistance was incorporated in Bahrain in 2010 and is a fully-owned subsidiary of Trust Re, a leading reinsurance company. M
