Kenya: Insurance Regulatory Authority appoints new CEO

The Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) has appointed Mr Godfrey Kiptum as the Acting Commissioner of Insurance and CEO, replacing the long serving CEO Sammy Makove, who is on terminal leave pending the expiry of his eight year stint with the regulator.
Prior to his appointment, Mr Kiptum was IRA’s Chief Manager for Human Capital Development and Admiration and has been in the public service for over 20 years.
Mr Makove is the first CEO of IRA and has served two terms, each made up of four years. Prior to the establishment of IRA, Mr Makove was the Commissioner of Insurance at the then Department of Insurance in the Ministry of Finance.
