Takaful News - International: Global Takaful Union Holds Inaugural Meeting

The International Insurance and Islamic Takaful Companies Union conducted its first meeting in Cairo, hosted by the Egyptian-Saudi Insurance House Company.

The meeting voted unanimously for Sudan to be the base of the Union and for Mr Ustaz Hashim Mohamed Al Khatib of Sheikan Insurance Company to be the body’s Secretary General.

Representatives from Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, and the UAE attended the inaugural session. Members are scheduled to meet next in six months’ time in Qatar, to be hosted by H E Abdalla Bin Jabr Al Thani who is the Union’s Chairman.
