Mena News - Bahrain: Householder Insurance has Growth Potential
Source: Middle East Insurance Review | Mar 2007
As many as 150,000 or 75% of home owners and tenants in Bahrain lack householders’ insurance, and their properties are not covered for risks like fire, flood, and lightning.
This is the view of Fakhro Insurance Services’ General Manager, Mr Adrian Pinto, who says that those who have bought such insurance are mainly people who have property mortgages with banks.
However, more customers are buying such insurance in the wake of unseasonal heavy rainfall in late 2006 and early 2007 which led to flooding and caused damage of hundreds of thousands of dinars.
