Syria:SISC completes regulatory fee review and broker framework update

| 16 Jun 2026

A committee tasked by the Syrian Insurance Supervisory Commission (SISC) to review fees chargeable by the regulator has completed its work.

The task was part of the periodic review of applicable fees, ensuring alignment with the requirements for developing the insurance environment and enhancing the efficiency of supervisory and regulatory work, the SISC said on its Facebook account.

At the same time, a committee assigned to reorganise insurance service providers has finalised its study of the insurance broking segment. The panel reviewed the regulatory framework for insurance broking, updating regulatory requirements and strengthening professional standards to contribute to raising the level of efficiency and professional discipline in the market.

These efforts are part of the Authority's ongoing commitment to developing the legislative and regulatory environment for the insurance sector, enhancing transparency, and raising the quality of insurance services.

Separately, the SISC is conducting research with the Faculty of Economics at the University of Aleppo to develop insurance education in Syria.

SISC General Manager, Mr Kefah Ahmad Almousa Alfaramalli, met the Dean of the Faculty of Economics of Aleppo University, Dr Abdulaziz Al-Dagheem to discuss ways to improve insurance education and link its outcomes with the human resources needs of the insurance market.

Dr Al-Dagheem said that the Faculty of Economics keeps up with the requirements of the insurance market, by working on opening a specialised insurance division within the Banking and Insurance Department, which contributes to the training of qualified cadres, improving competencies in the insurance sector, and strengthening its professional structure.
