Data released by the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) showed that insurance companies received a total of 3,001 complaints during the first seven months of this year, more than 99% of which (2,974 complaints) were related to motor insurance.
According to the data, settlements were reached between customers and insurance companies in 358 of the total complaints submitted during this period, according to a report by Ammannet, citing the CBJ data.
Central Bank figures indicate that the value of compensation paid by insurance companies increased by 4.4% during the period from January to July of this year, reaching JOD320m ($451m), compared to JOD307m for the corresponding period in 2024, an increase of JOD14m.
Meanwhile, insurance premiums increased by nearly 12%, reaching JOD536m, compared to JOD479m for the first seven months of 2024, an increase of JOD57m.
Medical insurance accounted for the largest share of total premiums during the first seven months of 2025, at JOD187m, while vehicle insurance came in second place at JOD171m .
On the other hand, the motor insurance branch accounted for the largest share of total claims paid, accounting for 51.5% of total compensation, amounting to JOD165m. Medical insurance came in second place, accounting for 36%, with claims paid amounting to JOD115m, from January to July 2025.
