The Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) has issued a model for the mandatory third-party liability insurance policy for accidents involving rapid transit vehicles within Egypt.
The model policy has been published in the Egyptian Gazette, marking the start of the implementation of this model. It is to be applied to all types of vehicles licensed to operate in accordance with the provisions of the Traffic Law, reported the news platform Amwal Alghad.
Egypt’s rapid transit system includes the metro, bus rapid transit that deploys electric buses, and light rail.
Proof of disability resulting from rapid transit vehicle accidents must be provided by the competent medical authority, and the insured amount will be paid according to the percentages shown in a table attached to the policy form.
