UAE: Dubai health insurance system handles transactions totalling over $5.9bn in 2023

Dubai recorded more than 44m health insurance claims in 2023, up from 100,000 per month in 2013, according to a government statement.
Dubai’s Health Insurance Corporation highlights that the value of transactions processed through the electronic healthcare insurance portal in 2023 exceeded AED21.68bn ($5.9bn) with individual contributions reaching over AED1.1bn.
The report also reveals that 4.47m individuals benefitted from the healthcare insurance umbrella in Dubai, with access to over 12,280 diverse and comprehensive insurance packages for all members of the society.
Furthermore, the report outlines the significant developments in Dubai’s healthcare insurance system in 2023, with a total of 143.32m transactions and over 44.1m insurance claims processed through the electronic portal.
The report also indicates that the number of online medical prescriptions exceeded 18.05m in 2023 and that 8,894 health service providers, and 71 insurance and claims management companies operated in the health sector. M
