Saudi Arabia: Insurers target health coverage for 25m people by 2030

The insurance sector aims to provide health insurance coverage to 25m people by 2030, when health insurance contribution to GDP is expected to reach SAR61bn ($16.3bn) by 2030 or about 2% of the GDP, according to a report by the Saudi Council of Health Insurance.
 
The number of Saudi health insurance beneficiaries grew by 18% to 11.5m by the end of 2022, reported The Saudi Gazette. Health insurance premiums in 2022 totalled SAR31.8bn, according to official statistics.
 
The Saudi health insurance sector has witnessed a significant expansion in the recent past, especially after the introduction of compulsory health insurance for workers in the private sector and their dependents.
 
The council has launched a national platform for health and insurance exchange services to raise the level of health insurance services. M
