20th Global Conference of Actuaries

The event organised by the Institute of Actuaries of India (IAI) is a platform for actuaries and non-actuaries to share thoughts and debate matters that affect the financial services industry in general, and the insurance and pension industry in particular. IRDAI’s chairperson Dr Subash Chandra will be delivering the keynote address on 5 March.

14th Annual World Takaful & InsurTech Conference  
Theme: “Reinforcing Customer Engagement & Operational Agility through Digital Transformation”

The 14th Annual World Takaful & InsurTech Conference (WITC 2019) will allow participants to better understand market in?uencers, growth factors and global takaful opportunities, and at the same time provide takaful practitioners with insights into the underlying issues and challenges facing the industry. This year’s programme will include: innovative insurer showcase session; exclusive takaful workshop; regulators’ rendezvous; and insightful audit session on IFRS 17.

Aqaba Conference 2019
15-17 Apr, Aqaba, Jordan
The 7th International Aqaba Conference, ‘AqabaConf2019’, will be expanding its scope this year and covering areas beyond marine insurance and transportation. The conference will feature four main sessions to address various insurance issues including digital integration between risk and insurance, conventional insurance vs takaful, natural catastrophic exposure, and risk vs capital. 
 
The organising committee has introduced a new insurance award called, ‘AqabaConf Insurance Research Award’, to mark 10 years since the launch of the conference. The award will be presented to the top three research studies on the subject of ‘e-insurance’.

46th African Insurance Organisation (AIO) Conference and Annual General Assembly 
Theme: “Insurance Penetration in Africa: Insuring the Uninsured”
8-13 Jun, Johannesburg, South Africa
Under this year’s theme – Insurance Penetration in Africa: Insuring the Uninsured – the conference will focus on insurance distribution and inclusivity across the continent. Other topical issues under discussion will include microinsurance and the effects of climatic events (such as floods, droughts and wildfires) on the industry and the economy in general.
 
Each year, the event attracts senior delegates from across Africa and the rest of the world to discuss the most pressing issues facing the insurance industry on the continent at the time.
 
The year’s conference is organised by the Insurance Institute of South Africa (IISA), under the chairmanship of Thokozile Mahlangu, CEO of IISA.
