Iran: Central Insurance backs InsurTech startups

Source: Middle East Insurance Review | Dec 2018

Central Insurance of Iran (CII) is seeking to provide services for startups and knowledge-based companies.

CII, the insurance industry regulator, and Iran’s vice president for science and technology, Mr Sorena Sattari, signed an agreement in early November to boost cooperation in the field of insurance, reported Tehran Times.

Under the agreement, CII will support the innovation ecosystem by offering different services and insurance coverage.
CII also supports startups, which have innovative ideas in the field of insurance, including smart business, electronic services and data analysis.

“Knowledge-based companies can provide accessible services at a reasonable cost to consumers,” Mr Sattari said during the signing ceremony.

The agreement paves the way for the expansion of the knowledge-based economy in the field of insurance, he added. M
