Kuwait: Govt studies 3 health insurance proposals for expats

Source: Middle East Insurance Review | May 2018

The Ministry of Health is currently studying three approaches to introduce health insurance for expatriates, said media reports.

This review follows the cancellation by the State Audit Bureau (SAB) of the latest bid for a health insurance scheme due to the Ministry’s violation of governmental bidding regulations, reported Arab Times.

Sources disclosed the proposals are: float another tender, link with the Interior Ministry to receive fees, or designate the Health Insurance Hospitals Company to receive fees.

The reports said the contract of the company that currently provides the service will expire on 27 July 2018, and the Ministry is keen to find a solution before this date to avoid the accumulation of transactions and to allow expatriates to buy health insurance before the expiry of their residence permits. M
