Turkey: Authority clears 32 insurers of anti-competition behaviour

Source: Middle East Insurance Review | Oct 2017

The Turkish Competition Authority (TCA) has recently finalised an investigation into the compulsory traffic insurance sector. It found that there was no anti-competitive behaviour.

Accordingly, the TCA has not imposed administrative fines on the insurers investigated, wrote Ertugrul Can Canbolat and Omer Bulgak of the legal services firm, Actecon.

In February 2016, the TCA started an investigation into 32 insurers and the Insurance Association of Turkey, based on alleged anti-competitive agreements in mandatory motor insurance business when they increased premiums at the same time. The investigation was concluded on 19 July 2017. M
