UAE: Insurance Authority and CII in training partnership

The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) has partnered the UAE Insurance Authority (IA) to boost professionalism in the country.
The two organisations have jointly established an education programme in Abu Dhabi which will train insurance professionals to meet a minimum standard of qualification based on their job role.
In the partnership, the CII will be supporting the IA by providing face-to-face training, study materials, examinations and awarding qualifications.
The initial focus is the CII Award in General Insurance, but all of the CII’s international awards and certifications will be made available to professionals in the region.
Over 10,000 UAE insurance professionals will be enrolled in the programme, including both UAE nationals and expatriates. The IA has already scheduled the programme in late March.
“Our key objective is to develop the insurance sector in UAE and support it to compete globally. The Insurance Authority wants to provide a comprehensive professional programme for practitioners working in insurance sector within the UAE, and as the CII is the leading professional body for the global financial services profession, it was a natural choice for the UAE,” said Mr Ebrahim Obaid Al Zaabi, UAE IA Director General.

The CII, and the profession we represent, are outward-looking and open to new opportunities across the world, and this most recent collaboration offers an opportunity for us to share our experience of good practice,” said Ms Sian Fisher, CEO of CII.
