Turkey: Employment in insurance sector stays stable in 2016

The Turkish insurance industry employed 19,652 people in 2016, 17,551 or 89% of whom had educational qualifications at college, university and graduate levels, according to figures released by the Insurance Association of Turkey.
The number of graduates in insurance and actuarial studies stood at 1,620, representing 8.2% of total employees, reported Insurance Gazette.
Reflecting the stable employment situation, the industry employed 19,591 people in 2015. Of this total, 87.5% had educational qualifications at college, university and graduate levels. Of the total, 1,403 graduated in insurance and actuarial studies.
In 2016, the number of people working in insurance companies excluding direct sales personnel was 13,555. This was marginally higher than the corresponding number of 13,262 people in 2015.
In 2016, the number of women workers in the insurance industry was 7,188, while the number of male employees was 6,367. In comparison, 6,984 employees were women and 6,168 were men in 2015.
