Jubilee Insurance achieved 16.9% return on equity (ROE) in 2015, the highest among the six insurers listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE), said media reports citing figures from Cytonn Investments.
Kenya Re took the second spot with 16.6%, while the lowest ROE was that of Britam at negative 5%, according to the Cytonn report. Britam made a KES1 billion (US$10 million) loss for the year ended December 2015, due to the lower valuations of the quoted firms in which it has invested. Among the positive ROEs, PanAfrica had the lowest at 0.7%.
The average ROE of the six insurance companies was 12.4% in 2015.
