Tunisia’s biggest insurer, Societe Tunisienne d’Assurances et de Reassurances (STAR), has posted net profit of TND45.7 million (US$23.4 million), an increase of 252% compared to the corresponding period in 2014.

During the first six months of the year, the turnover of the company increased by 7.5% to reach TND174.1 million.

Net investment income in the first half reached TND79.1 million against TND21.4 million in the corresponding period last year. The increase was due to the block sale of securities of about TND54.2 million.

In 2014, STAR achieved an 11% increase in its turnover to TND289.3 million and a 19% surge in profit to TND22.3 million.
