The UAE’s Insurance Authority (IA) has been developing services deliverable through smart devices for those in the insurance industry and its customers.
Mr Ebrahim Obaid Al Zaabi, Director General of the IA, said in a statement issued in conjunction with the Smart Government Fair 2015 in early June that the services are being developed for policyholders and insurance beneficiaries, as well as companies and professionals in the insurance field.
He said that the Authority succeeded last year in transforming 38 out of 47 electronically convertible services into smart services provided through smart phones and portable devices. This year, it will complete the transformation of the remaining nine convertible services.
Smart services provided by the Authority include receiving complaints and insurance enquiries; renewal of registration of national and foreign insurance companies; registration and renewal of permits for branches; registration and licence renewal for individual and corporate insurance brokers, agents, surveyors and loss adjustors, actuaries, consultants and third-party administrators; and registration and renewal of their branches. The services also include requests for data amendment as well as electronic payment of service charges.
The Authority is providing the services through various means including mobile phones, tablets, SMS messaging and Interactive Voice Response (IVR) technology.
