Takaful Re holds family takaful workshop in Dubai

As part of its commitment to its partners in the takaful industry, Takaful Re held its fifth family takaful workshop in Dubai in April.
“Over the years, Takaful Re has been keen to address the various issues in the family takaful field as we realise the importance of this side of business and its strategic importance to the development of the takaful and retakaful industry,” said Mr Nassib Barbir, Assistant General Manager of Takaful Re.
He said the workshop was designed to discuss topics of concern for operators in various markets to help them gain a better understanding of family takaful.
This year’s activity was held in cooperation with Global Takaful Group (GTG) to give larger scope and exposure to the areas of research, noted Mr Firas El Azem, General Manager of Takaful Re. “We have been conducting several interactive brainstorming events in the past and this year we are collaborating with GTG to further expand the scope of discussions and tap into broader areas of the subject to enrich everybody’s experiences.”
The subjects covered during the workshop included a general overview of the global takaful industry, family takaful product design and development, operating models of takaful, importance of pricing, role of actuaries and distribution channels in the light of new technologies.
The two-day event also showcased the experiences of a number of African, Asian and regional takaful markets. It attracted 35 delegates from the MENA, Levant and Asian markets.
