GCC: Average white-collar salaries rise by nearly 8%

The average white-collar salary across the Gulf region rose by 7.88% to US$11,211 last year, according to the Gulf Business 2015 Salary Survey.
Kuwait registered the biggest increase in salaries at 10.19%, followed by the UAE (9.97%), reported Gulf Business. Next were Oman (7.9%), Qatar (7.74%), Saudi Arabia (7%) and Bahrain (4.43%).
The survey said that Westerners earned 26.91% more on average than Asian expats. Arab employees earned 20% more than Asians.
Asian expats in the GCC, however, saw the strongest growth in average pay among all ethnic groups. Their average salaries across all the positions measured grew by 9.74% to $9,518 a month, according to this year’s survey. Arab expat salaries rose the slowest among racial groups, up 4.69% to $11,638.
