Jordan: Islamic Insurance grew 9% in 2014

The Islamic Insurance Company has reported that its total contributions rose to about JOD21.5 million (US$30.3 million) for 2014, 9% higher than the JOD19.7 million collected the previous year.
Shareholders’ profits before tax totalled JOD1.65 million last year, 29% more than the JOD1.28 million for 2013. However, profits attributable to policyholders dropped to JOD715,000 last year, from JOD778,000 in 2013.
The company’s total assets reached JOD33.6 million at the end of 2014, compared to JOD30.3 million a year earlier.
