| 14 Oct 2026

Turkiye has taken over the presidency of Turkic World Insurance Union (TWIU), with Mr Atilla Benli elected as the President.

The presidency rotated to Turkiye at the second TWIU general assembly held in Gaziantep on 10 October, which was hosted by the Turkish Insurance Association (TSB).

The meeting, which highlighted the goal of solidifying cooperation between the insurance sectors of the participating countries, also outlined priorities for the new term and the launch of the Union's corporate website, twiu.org.

Mr Benli said he first suggested establishing the TWIU in 2020, while he was TSB President. He added, “Our priority will be to transform the cooperation between our countries into a structure that produces concrete results. We aim to increase information and experience sharing, develop joint projects, and deepen cooperation, especially in research, education, and reinsurance.

The TWIU was established in 2022 on the joint initiative of the TSB and the Insurance Association of Azerbaijan. Alongside them, the union’s other founding members are the insurance associations of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. The TWIU’s first general assembly was held in September 2025 in Azerbaijan.
