Obituary:Industry veteran Mohamed Mazhar Hamadeh passes away

Mr Mohamed Mazhar Hamadeh, a Jordanian insurance veteran and highly respected figure in the regional and international insurance market, passed away on 28 August and was laid to rest in Abu Dhabi.

Mr Hamadeh devoted more than five decades to the insurance industry, leaving behind an exceptional career and substantial influence on the development of the sector.

A prominent figure in the regional insurance industry, he was known for his dedication to the development of the industry and his personal integrity.

Mr Hamadeh served as CEO of Al Ain Ahlia Insurance Company since 1994.

Over the course of his decades-long career, he made significant contributions to the development and integration of the Arab insurance market. Having made the UAE his professional home, Mr Hamadeh exemplified the essence of cross-cultural contribution, industry dedication and regional integration.

In addition to his contributions to the UAE insurance sector, he held several prominent positions at the UAE, and regional and international (re)insurance bodies, including the General Arab Insurance Federation (GAIF), the Afro-Asian Insurers and Reinsurers (FAIR), International Insurance Society (IIS), and the Emirates Insurance Federation, among others.
