The Insurance Training College (ITC) has signed an MoU with Service Cops to establish the ITC-Service Cops Innovation Hub, a five-year initiative aimed at advancing innovation, digital transformation, and skills development within Uganda's insurance and financial services sector.
The partnership will offer an annual nine-month intensive programme combining insurance training, technology skills, mentorship, and hands-on industry experience.
The Hub intends to:
- Develop innovation-driven professionals with both insurance and technology skills
- Promote research, collaboration, and knowledge exchange
- Provide hands-on training, internships, and industry exposure
- Create market-ready solutions for the insurance sector
In a statement, ITC’s Principal Mr Saul Sseremba noted that while innovation has long been part of conversations within the insurance industry, this partnership marks the transition from dialogue to real action. He highlighted that with insurance penetration still standing at 1%, the industry must embrace innovation to develop new solutions that improve trust, accessibility, and service delivery across the sector.
Mr Joseph Ndiho, Chairman of Service Cops, said that the partnership aligns with the company’s vision of equipping sector professionals with innovation skills, emphasising that individuals with an insurance background are best positioned to develop meaningful solutions for the industry.
