Total premiums in Jordan's insurance market showed strong growth in 2025 compared to the previous year, with expansion in both non-life insurance and life insurance sectors.
Insurance companies raised their premium income to JOD856m ($1.2bn) in 2025, registering a 9.6% growth rate over the preceding year, almost double the pace of increase recorded in 2024, according to figures released by the Central Bank of Jordan.
Motor insurance was the largest line of business in 2025, commanding around 34% of the total GWP with premiums reaching JOD295m, up from JOD269m in 2024, representing a 9.5% increase. Medical insurance ranked second with premiums accounting for around 31% of the market and amounting to JOD268m compared to JOD236m in 2024.
Life insurance business accounted for almost 18% of the market premium income in 2025 as its premiums reached JOD151m against JOD136m in the previous year, registering an 11% increase.
Paid claims for the insurance market remained stable, reaching JOD564m in 2025 versus JOD566m in the previous year, representing a 0.4% decline. Motor insurance paid claims reached JOD288m, registering an 8% y-o-y increase and accounting for nearly half of the market’s total paid claims. Medical insurance paid claims totalled JOD210m in 2025 against JOD197m in the previous year, marking a 6% increase and accounting for 37% of the market’s total paid claims.
