The General Arab Insurance Federation (GAIF) has formed a Higher Organising Committee, in preparation for the 35th GAIF General Conference, scheduled in Jordan on 4 October 2026, according to a statement released by the Jordan Insurance Federation (JIF).

The Higher Organising Committee is headed by Mr Majed Smairat, the JIF chairman who is also the Jordanian insurance market’s representative on the GAIF board.

The establishment of the Committee is a prelude to completing and preparing arrangements for the Jordanian insurance market to host the Conference, which is considered one of the most prominent global and Arab events in the insurance sector. Expectations are that the event will attract more than 2,500 participants from around the world.

The Conference's Higher Organising Committee includes representatives from both JIF and GAIF. Apart from Mr Smairat, other members of the Committee include JIF’s vice chairman Mr Ala’a Abdeljawad; JIF’s CEO Dr Moayad Kloub; GAIF secretary-general Mr Chakib Abouzaid; and GAIF assistant secretary-general Mr Magdy Farghal.

The JIF statement also said, “Hosting this conference is an important step and a major achievement for the Jordan insurance market. It provides a unique opportunity to discuss the latest developments and challenges facing the insurance industry; learn about new developments and insurance opportunities in the world of insurance; and present innovative solutions to enhance the insurance sector's development. The Conference will be attended by a wide range of global leading (re)insurance companies.”

The Committee will also monitor all arrangements and progress during the Conference to ensure a successful event.
