Bahrain:Takaful International's 1H2026 net profit jumps 23% to nearly US$2m despite regional headwinds

Takaful International, the first Islamic insurance company in Bahrain, has reported a net profit attributable to the shareholders after tax of BHD736,000 ($1.95m) for the six months ended 30 June 2026.

This result was 23% higher than the BHD600,000 posted for the corresponding half of 2025, according to a statement issued by Takaful International.

The company reported a total net profit after tax of BHD839,000 during the six months ended 30 June 2026 compared to BHD761,000 for the corresponding half of the previous year, with an increase of 10%.

The shareholders’ fund achieved a profit after tax of BHD736,000 during 1H2026, compared to a profit of BHD600,000 for 1H2025, while takaful participants’ funds achieved a surplus after tax of BHD103,000, compared to a surplus of BHD160,000 for 1H2025, a decrease of 36%.

Recognised takaful contributions were BHD6.39m for the first six months of 2026, compared to BHD14.15m for 1H2025, an increase of 16%.

The company’s shareholders' equity amounted to BHD12.4m as of 30 June 2026, compared to BHD13.1m as of 31 December 2025, a decrease of 5%. Total assets increased by 1% to BHD47m as of 30 June 2026, compared to BHD46.6m as of 31 December 2025

Mr Ebrahim Al Rayes, Takaful International’s Chairman, said that the company delivered a resilient performance during the second quarter of the year 2026 despite the continued regional uncertainty. He noted that the positive investment results, supported by a disciplined and diversified investment strategy, contributed significantly to the overall financial performance, reflecting the Company's prudent financial management and long-term approach to creating sustainable value for shareholders and policyholders.
