| 09 Aug 2026

State-controlled Société Nationale d'Assurance (SAA), Algeria's biggest insurer, has increased its share capital to DZD40bn ($301m) from DZD35bn, representing an increase of 25%.

The increase, approved by shareholders at an Extraordinary General Meeting, was carried out through the capitalisation of reserves, reported Algeria Press Service citing a statement issued by the company last week.

The Algerian insurer reported a net profit of DZD3.5bn for 2025, higher than the DZD3.42bn chalked up for 2024. Direct premiums issued in 2025 rose by 15.7% to DZD38bn, giving the company a 22.8% market share. Total claim payouts for the year reached DZD19bn.
