The participation insurance (takaful) sector in Turkiye chalked up contributions totalling TRY48.8bn ($1.04bn) in the first six months of the year, 50.1% higher compared to the corresponding half in 2025, in nominal terms, according to data from the Insurance Association of Turkiye (TSB). The real growth was 13.6%.
The majority of the overall contributions was generated by the general takaful branch, which commanded 96% or TRY46.997bn of total contributions. The branch grew by 50.5% year on year in nominal terms in 1H2026 and by 13.9% in real terms.
The family takaful branch reported contributions of TRY1.845bn, representing 3.8% of the total participation insurance market. The nominal increase in 1H2026 over the corresponding half in 2025 was 41.2% while real growth stood at 6.9%.
