Morocco:Insurance industry's performance shows continued positive momentum in first 9 months of 2025

The insurance industry in Morocco reported total premiums of MAD48.26bn for the first nine months of 2025, registering a 7.2% year-on-year increase. These figures confirm the positive momentum of the Moroccan insurance industry.

The data released by the Insurance and Social Security Supervisory Authority (ACAPS) reveals that the non-life insurance branch maintained its majority share of the overall portfolio, with MAD27.26bn in the first nine months of this year, up by  7.5%.

Meanwhile, the life insurance segment generated MAD21bn in premiums, representing a growth of 6.9%. Specifically, the unit-linked savings segment saw a dramatic increase of 102.2%, reaching MAD1.74bn. Conversely, savings insurance declined by 2.1%, to MAD16.51bn. Life protection insurance, on the other hand, grew by 5.5%, reaching MAD2.74bn.

In the non-life insurance sector, several lines of business showed significant growth. Premiums reported for the technical risks branch jumped by 71.5%, while the surety bond and catastrophic events segments increased by 15.6% and 12.6% respectively. Assistance services followed the trend with a 7.8% rise.

As the leading contributor to the non-life insurance sector, motor insurance continued to grow, with an increase of 7.6% to MAD12.73bn. Motor third-party liability insurance accounted for MAD10.37bn of this total, up by 6.8%.
