The Insurance and Social Security Supervisory Authority (ACAPS) is working on implementing a digital system to monitor online content related to insurance products and services.
According to the regulator, amidst accelerated digital transformation, the Moroccan insurance sector is undergoing significant changes in marketing, communication, and customer relations methods. Today, several players use digital channels, including websites, applications, and social networks, to sell insurance products or disseminate advertisements.
This transformation presents opportunities for innovation and financial inclusion, but also poses risks, particularly in terms of misleading advertising, unauthorised business practices, or insurance operations carried out in violation of regulations.
To address these issues, ACAPS proposes a system that will detect, collect, analyse and report practices that potentially do not comply with current regulations, and generate alerts that can be used by its supervision teams, as reported by the newspaper Le Matin.
"With the implementation of this solution, the Authority will have automated mechanisms for monitoring the digital market, allowing it to quickly identify insurance offers distributed online, misleading or non-compliant advertising, illegal or non-transparent subscription methods, content encouraging inappropriate commercial practices, and, generally speaking, any form of non-compliance with the rules," said ACAPS.
Through this project, ACAPS intends to strengthen market surveillance and policyholder protection, while adapting its regulatory tools to the rapidly evolving digital practices in the sector. The Authority is preparing to recruit an expert to support it in this project, particularly in implementing automatic detection mechanisms and continuous analysis of online content.
