The profiles of most MENA reinsurers have remained region-centric, which has in part sheltered their performance from large international natural catastrophe exposures as in 2017. However, this approach also continues to expose the reinsurers to large property and engineering risks in the region, says A.M.Best in its latest annual commentary on the global reinsurance sector.
