Revenue from conventional insurance and takaful activities totalled about EGP65.73bn ($1.3bn) from January to June 2026, 15.7% higher compared to EGP56.81bn in the corresponding half of 2025, according to the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA).
Conventional insurance accounted for the largest share of total collected premiums, rising by 10% year on year to about EGP53.59bn during the first half of 2026.
Takaful insurance recorded a higher growth rate, as contributions rose to about EGP12.14bn from January to June 2026. This represented a year-on-year increase of 50.3%.
Compensation
The FRA data also show that total compensation paid by the overall insurance industry dip by 1.7% to approximately EGP28.43bn from January to June 2026, compared to EGP28.92bn during the corresponding half of 2025.
Compensation paid out by conventional insurers decreased to about EGP25.01bn during the first half of 2026, compared to about EGP25.74bn during the corresponding period last year, a decrease of 2.8%.
In contrast, takaful compensation rose by 7.3% to about EGP3.41bn, compared to EGP3.1bn during the corresponding half of 2025.
