Turkiye:Insurers to shape the industry's digital future with state IT and cyber agency

The Turkish insurance sector has shifted its focus to domestic and national technology initiatives in its digital transformation journey.

A delegation from the Insurance Association of Turkiye (TSB) has met officials of TUBITAK Informatics and Information Security Research Centre (TUBITAK BILGEM), which operates under the Ministry of Industry and Technology. The objective is to evaluate projects that will shape the digital future of the insurance sector, according to a post on the TSB’s Facebook account.

TUBITAK BILGEM is the national R&D centre that studies innovative and national solutions to ensure the security, integrity, secure transmission and storage of civilian information to strengthen Turkiye’s technological independence in the fields of informatics, information security and advanced electronics

The meeting was also attended by executives from the Insurance Information and Monitoring Centre and the InsurTech Hub.

Agenda: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing and digital identity

The meeting focused on critical use cases, technical requirements, and potential collaboration opportunities for the industry in the fields of artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and digital identity.

The main agenda items covered were:

  • Turkish Grand Language Model: The use of the domestic artificial intelligence model being developed by TUBITAK BILGEM for insurance policy analysis, claims processes, and customer service

  • Sapphire Cloud Platform: Opportunities offered by Sapphire, a domestic cloud solution for the industry's data security and storage needs

  • Digital Identity: Increasing the speed and enhancing the security that digital identity projects will provide to the insurance sector to secure online transactions and identity verification processes

Concrete application scenarios of current projects conducted by TUBITAK BILGEM in the insurance sector were also discussed.
