The Algerian Union of Insurance and Reinsurance (UAR) has launched an artificial intelligence (AI) hub specialising in digital innovation and strengthening analytical capabilities in the sector. The initiative was announced by UAR General Delegate Abdelhakim Berrah.
In a statement to Algerian Press Service, Mr Berrah said the hub brings together the expertise of the UAR and leading schools, along with other organisations seeking to advance the use of AI. Participating institutions include the National Higher School of Artificial Intelligence (ENSIA), the National Higher School of Mathematics (ENSM), the Applied Technology Research Centre, and the Algerian Financial Innovation Laboratory (Algeria FinLab).
The hub was established as an Economic Interest Grouping (GIE), he added, noting that the initiative comes amid rapid digital transformation and shifts in financial markets.
Mr Berrah said the AI hub also aims to bridge academia and the professional sector, create an environment for students to develop their skills, support the emergence of start-ups, and build advanced local expertise in artificial intelligence.
