Newly launched Riyadh Reinsurance Company (Riyadh Re) has appointed Mr Belhassen Tonat as CUO, effective November. He will be based in the company's headquarters in Riyadh.
Mr Tonat joins Riyadh Re from Munich Re Underwriting Agents (DIFC) where he served as Senior Executive Client Management – P&C since September 2024. He served with the Munich Reinsurance Group for almost 20 years and has held several senior positions during that period, including General Manager, Non-Life of the group’s operations in Beijing, and was also in charge of Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, since 2021.
Prior to that, Mr Tonat served as General Manager Non-Life for Munich Re in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Mr Tonat started his career with Munich Re in 2007. Following that, he served in various positions across different regions including CUO in Seoul, Korea for two years in 2015 Head of Treaty Department between 2013 and 2015 and Client Manager, Non-Life, North Africa, in addition to other tasks he handled during his journey with the group.
